Mt. SAC Manufacturing Technology pathway supports these career categories and more.

The Manufacturing Technology program at Mt. SAC has provided our students with the most up-to-date and relevant training possible for more than 40 years. The faculty has over 50 years of extensive industry experience, as well as training in the most current technologies that industry requires.

Our labs are equipped with state-of-the-art computers, CAD / CAM software, and multiple CNC milling and turning machining centers. The Manufacturing Technology curriculum provides training in both conventional machining processes as well as digital machining processes, including CAD and CAM classes. Students trained in our department will take with them skills in manufacturing processes that are in high demand. Students can earn an A.S. degree certificate or individual certificates in fundamental shop skills and print reading, CAD, CAM/CNC Machining, and a comprehensive certificate in manufacturing technology.

Students with prior experience may be able to receive credit and/ or pre-requisite waivers to allow enrollment in intermediate or advanced courses. Contact Professor Stephen James (sjames@mtsac.edu; 909-274-5214) to discuss your individual situation

Successfully completing all three CAD courses will earn the Manufacturing Tech CAD certificate and two industry CAD certificates from SolidWorks: Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) and the Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP).

Advisory Committee members and individual industry experts are consulted on a regular basis to insure that the curriculum meets the needs of our students and the industry supported by the College.

Our program works with several local high schools to assist their students with articulation into our program.

Students are assisted by our faculty and the Career Placement Center, in finding jobs through referrals to local companies. Department faculty also provides assistance to students who wish to pursue a four-year technology degree at CSU Los Angeles.
