The Industrial Design and Engineering program has helped me sharpen my skills in manufacturing and drafting and that has made me much more attractive to prospective employers. I have learned so much about the different aspects of manufacturing that I have been able to excel in whatever field I choose.

If you want to learn how to make something from scratch, learn how to use tools like the laser cutter, or even how to model something on the computer so you can 3D print it, this is the program for you. It not only teaches you about industrial design, but it also opens the door to many other opportunities in the world of engineering.

I graduated from Mt. San Antonio College in the Industrial Design School. I have built my own CNC machine, designed a consumer product, started a club for other students who love product design, and joined with my dad to develop a vastly improved concrete pumping system for the construction trades. This program brought out the inventor in me.

I chose the Mt. SAC Industrial Design program because I have always enjoyed drafting. I found the program by accident but wasn’t sure what it was about. I’m glad I took the chance. It taught me how to take an idea and turn it into an actual working prototype. The program equipped me with the skills that I needed to find a manufacturing job. Not only can I apply what I learned at work but I can also turn what I learned into a hobby. I’m constantly furthering my skills and bringing my ideas to life. I would say to anyone who enjoys creating and designing or wants to learn basic machining, drafting or engineering knowledge, the Industrial Design Program at Mt. SAC is a great way to start.

Our hands-on programs which employ state-of-the-art machinery and systems and experienced instructors equipped our students with the skills to meet California’s manufacturing industry.
